A Passion Project.
When I moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in August of 2015 one of the first creatives I met was a poet, Emily Jean McCollister.
Emily introduced me to a project she was working on, a chatbook that would be spotlighting a collection of her absurdist poems, titled "A piece of cheesecake is never just a piece of cheesecake. Cast into my lake and I will eat your hook."
I was so captivated by the (seemingly) nonsensical word compositions that my imagination began running wild with the visuals that my new found poet friend inspired. I created the following pieces using images from issues of 1950s and 1960s "TIME" and "Southern Living". The end result was a limited run printed publication that displayed the perimeter of the following pieces, with white boxes on top of each with her words displayed.
